About the Opportunity

Complete Utility Contractors is looking for a full-time Civil Foreman/Forewoman based in Vancouver, B.C. 

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the work of construction crews, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Setting and maintaining daily performance expectations
  • Coordinating and leading civil crews and subcontractors to ensure quality control and timely project completion
  • Fostering strong employee morale, communication, and teamwork
  • Completing employee timesheets for payroll and daily safety or reporting documentation
  • Ensuring adherence to OH&S safe work practices and procedures, and communicating them effectively
  • Safely managing tasks around existing utilities
  • Prioritizing work tasks and efficiently organizing employees and subcontractors
  • Providing leadership and assisting in the training of junior employees
  • Offering feedback to supervisors and management on process improvements
  • Identifying problems and driving innovation through team coordination

About You

To qualify, you will need a minimum of 5 years of experience in utility, underground, or civil construction, specifically working with deep sewers. You should also have experience with heavy equipment or small tools and a solid understanding of underground utility construction, including trenching and shoring. Additionally, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and drawings, as well as strong leadership skills, is required.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations and construction disciplines, including materials and methods
  • Experience with live utility locating
  • Experience in project management and budgeting is an asset
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, backhoes, rollers, tampers, and pavers
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required
  • Completion of post-secondary courses related to this field; equivalent experience will also be considered
